This is the Chore Beer Chat's podcast with your host, Laurel Ysebaert. Hey, I am Laurel Ysebaert, and welcome to the first episode of the Chore Beer Chats podcast. We're going to keep this one kind, kinda kind of brief and concise because I just wanted to give a little little intro before we really delve into the good stuff. I know probably most of you are coming here because you already know who I am or knew about the episode from me talking about it on my social media.
00:00:58:22 - 00:01:21:03

So for those of you who have no idea what's going on, let me fill you in a little bit and let me just give a little refresher crash course to everybody else. Okay. So my name is Laurel Ysebaert. I am the host of the Chore Beer Chats podcast, and I'm a mom first. Very important, very most important job. I'm a mom.
00:01:21:07 - 00:01:44:17

I'm also a photographer. I am a first generation rancher. I am a small business owner. I'm a wife. Also, I'm also other things like a sister. Whatever, you know, like the list goes on. But those are like the main kind of take. So umbrella term, we want to say probably entrepreneur. I was at an event this past week and someone was just straight up like, Oh, what do you do?
00:01:44:17 - 00:02:11:17
Unknown
And I was like, I answered Drew a blank. I just do so many things and then I give them some fucking crazy answer that they don't want. They don't care. It was all just like niceties, and I just had to word vomit everywhere. So going forward, I think I'm I'm going to try to just stick with the I'm an entrepreneur as my short answer because it's a good umbrella term, because there's a lot of things there's a lot of things in that umbrella that I do that just seems easier.
00:02:11:17 - 00:02:38:22
Unknown
So that's what we'll go with. So Entrepreneur. Previously, though, I was a vet tech and not that long ago, I think the year was 2017. Yes. And I went on maternity leave with my first child and then like basically the long story kind of shortened. I did not go back to work and then got some cows, more chickens, sold some eggs.
00:02:40:08 - 00:02:56:02

And then when we kind of were starting our farm here, I decided to start an Instagram account for Ysebaert Acres, our farm, our ranch, whatever you want to call it. I call it a ranch. I also call it a farm. Sometimes it's cool, it's mine. I can do what I want. So I decided to start an Instagram.
00:02:56:05 - 00:03:16:01
Unknown
I started this Instagram just as a way of kind of holding myself accountable, You know, like some people like to post gym selfies and things like that, which like go girl, girl, boy gay or they good for you. You got you know, it's nice to see the progress so much like that, minus the rippling abs and bulging muscles.
00:03:17:16 - 00:03:35:00
Unknown
I wanted to hold myself accountable and it was more like a diary journal entry for myself to be able to look back and be like, Holy shit, look what we did. Or like we started it now. And I'm so glad I did because it is so cool. I actually stop and look back and see all the we've done in just a few short years now.
00:03:35:00 - 00:04:04:01
Unknown
The pleasant side effect of this personal diary entry situation on the interwebs was the community in which I found myself somehow, somehow building and so stoked so many like minded people, so many supportive people, or people just like genuinely intrigued with what we were doing from, quite frankly, all over the world. Okay, that sounds cocky, but look at my look.
00:04:04:01 - 00:04:26:15
Unknown
I can show you my country breakdown. Okay. It's pretty cool. It's actually mostly Americans. And I think that y'all came here because of my my video that went viral about a coyote eating my chicken. And you guys, like, went gun reform on my ass. And I just. Yeah. Anyway, nice. Thanks for hanging in there. We. I'd like to get out of the gun debate now.
00:04:26:16 - 00:04:43:05
Unknown
I did. I would like to be removed from this narrative. Thanks so much. Anyway, good to see you if you're still here. Thanks. Still don't have a gun. Sorry. Anyway, I'm so grateful for the community that has. I want to say that I built, but I don't want to take credit for it. I guess it was me. Whatever.
00:04:43:05 - 00:05:03:02
Unknown
We all did this together. You guys did it, too. So, yeah. So I started pouring a lot of my energy into this Instagram account and into showing up on social media because I kind of got like a little taste for it that I'm like, Oh, this is cool. I'm getting some positive kind of response, and it seems like what I'm doing.
00:05:03:02 - 00:05:25:01
Unknown
There are other people interested in it as well, so maybe I can help those people get to the point I'm at and share my story and share what I do. So I got a little more cozy on the Instagrams and then I moved towards Tik Tok in my friend's a blessing and also a curse because I have I have a pretty fair sized community there.
00:05:25:01 - 00:05:44:05
Unknown
I do not know what happened. I do It was it's dumb luck really with with Tik tok the algorithm there but yeah quite a quite a community over there which I am also grateful for. And yes, there are definitely more Americans on that one Pew pew. But that's cool. We welcome everyone here as long as we're kind and just straight up not an asshole.
00:05:44:07 - 00:06:13:17
Unknown
So welcome to everyone. Anyway, so. So then I moved towards Tik tok, got more cows, got more chickens. So then, you know, eggs alone were not paying the bills. So then I started putting my main focus into my photography business. Barn bird photography. But I have since diversified further because I am insane. And I decided to build a farm store because why not?
00:06:13:18 - 00:06:37:08
Unknown
Why not build a farm source? And the most natural next progression, You know what I'm saying? So yeah, So I built a farm store and fast forward a year. I decided that wasn't enough. So I started a podcast and here we are. So who knows what's next? I'm a real big goal person, and once I accomplish that goal, I'm like, immediately ready for the next challenge.
00:06:37:11 - 00:07:03:16
Unknown
Immediately, next, next. But let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Let's see how this new venture goes. The whole podcasting thing, like what a learning curve. I consider myself to be a very, I think, tech savvy person, But I no longer think that because I had no idea like, Oh my God, the the equipment I needed microphones excuse me.
00:07:03:17 - 00:07:29:09
Unknown
Learning a lot. Still really don't know what I'm doing, but the things are working, so I'm just going to like, keep replicating the actions that I have done. We're going to just roll with it. Yeah, I feel like basically I feel like a boomer, as they say, I'm a little better now. You know, I got some practice under my belt, but yeah, feeling big boomer energy over here, trying to learn like the recording programs, the software editing software.
00:07:29:18 - 00:08:03:00
Unknown
Oh, my God. So please, please be easy on me because I am just doing my best. I'm doing my best. So yeah, here we are sitting in my farm store recording my podcast. Excuse me. What? Wild. Moving on. What can you expect from the Audio Chats podcast? Let's get into it. So Trigger Chats is the conversation you have with your partner, your friend, or even with just your self over a crispy cold chore?
00:08:03:00 - 00:08:24:08
Unknown
Beer. After all the hard work is done. You know what I'm talking about. You know what I'm talking about. It is one of the greatest feelings. And I created this podcast as an attempt to emulate that feeling and also to include everyone in the conversation, whether your chores are in the barn or in the house. Also, it does not have to be a beer.
00:08:24:11 - 00:08:44:15
Unknown
It is less about the actual beverage and more about the act of the short beer. You know, I'm saying it's more about the experience. So it can be it can be a cooler, it can be a lemonade, it can be a coffee, a water. You know what I mean? You may not even need the beverage, Kate. Dare I say it?
00:08:44:15 - 00:09:13:08
Unknown
You may not even need the beverage. It is just it is just the act of reflecting on a hard day's work and unwinding and just shooting the shit. The vibe is going to be very chill, conversational. There will definitely be swear words. So earmuffs for the children. I think most episodes will be in person with a guest. Some will be virtual because you know why it like not everyone lives in Bamford, Cartwright, Ontario.
00:09:13:08 - 00:09:37:15
Unknown
You know, I'm saying and there's also going to be a few solo ones because apparently I just can't get enough of hearing myself talk. There will not be any formal stiff interviews. I will be asking my guests questions. Of course, but it's going to be more about kind of like a topic that I have in common with this person or I think that this person could contribute to.
00:09:38:00 - 00:10:05:02
Unknown
And then us kind of discussing it, if that makes sense. Just basically talking about cool shit with people doing cool shit. It's very all encompassing and you should probably just hear it for yourself. We will also have a tour of your chat line segment every episode or most episodes where we choose questions previously submitted by listeners for our guest or myself to answer and you can submit anything you want there.
00:10:05:02 - 00:10:22:10
Unknown
It doesn't just have to be a question, it can be an opinion. You do have the option to post anonymously. You can just go on there and talk me all day if you want. Go crazy. That would probably make for a good episode. So I do. I promise it is anonymous. I am not just tricking you into like roasting me and then me catching you.
00:10:22:12 - 00:10:40:20
Unknown
That's kind of smart though. I should probably that be funny. That'd be a good fucking episode. Catfish. Yeah. So I would love for you to submit anything to the chat line at any point in the season. Weigh in on something that you hear. If we ask a question or we talk about something and you disagree with it, like, Let's hear it, I love it, let's hear it.
00:10:41:12 - 00:11:03:16
Unknown
The format of the show is going to be in seasons, and I'll be releasing a new episode every Monday for the next couple of months for season one. So make sure you're subscribed to the top of your Chats podcast on whatever app you get your podcasts from. And I'm also going to be filming every episode, and those videos will be available exclusively on my YouTube channel, Ysebaert Acres.
00:11:04:03 - 00:11:25:16
Unknown
You'll be able to access show notes for each episode. Through my website. I submit occurs dot com where I will post transcripts and all the important links to things mentioned in the episode. You'll also be able to find out information from any partners that sponsored that episode. So yeah, all the good stuff will be in there. It's a whole thing, y'all.
00:11:25:16 - 00:11:49:12
Unknown
It's a whole thing. I'm super excited about it and so grateful that you're here joining me on this wild ride. Wild. So yeah, that's me. That's a quick little intro we're going to get Do more of a deep dive later on. Buckle the fuck up because season one starts now.
